Restitution 2010
In 2010, years of extensive research into the museum holdings and into the Klemperer Collection made possible one further major restitution to the von Klemperer family. The objects contained in this restitution had to a large extent only survived in the form of shards or fragments, making it extremely difficult to identify them with certainty. In 1991 they had not been recognized as belonging to the Gustav von Klemperer Collection and it required painstaking research for them to be restituted. Newly discovered sources and image sources (photographs by Fritz Fichtner and proofs of the collection catalog 1928) helped identify a total of 227 items. Some of the pieces restituted in 2010 were sold at auction at Bonhams, London, in the same year.
